Commissioned Project

An actor I’ve know since the 90’s, Tim Thomerson, is a great friend of Dave Letterman’s. He wanted to give Dave a set of antique spurs but needed a box.  He wanted something rustic and western.  I came up with the idea of replicating a Wells Fargo strong box from the stage coach era.  ‘DC’ is the Brand used on Letterman’s Ranch, Deep Creek.  Attached is my first sketch and some pics.  I installed a functional antique half mortise lock and did all the carpentry, scenic and lettering personally in my shop.

Tim was actually quite happy. He’s mugging for the pic.

Thanks for checking out my shameless self promotion.
Best,
Michael

THE RED HOUSE

MAY, 2014

The Red House is a short film that takes place in 1915 in a Chinese Bordello. It’s a moving tale of sacrifice which I was excited to design and decorate. Rush Hour Productions produced and we shot locally. There is a montage of the sets on the REELS page of this website.

TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL

APRIL, 2014

I designed and shipped an installation to the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival for Nonny de la Pena’s Virtual Reality exhibit. The virtual experience entitled, Use of Force Protocol, is Virtual Journalism and allowed participants visiting the film festival to witness first hand the reality of a U.S. Border out of control. The piece was powerful and moving and I’m proud to have contributed in getting the message out on this important issue.
